In September we welcomed many of our distributors from around the world to our new office for training. It was an exciting 3 days filled with lots of information about our newest products. We capped off the week with a fun-filled trip to Alcatraz Island and an evening in San Francisco.
Exploratorium in San Francisco recently held an open house highlighting new experiences that immerse their visitors in the bay & ocean environment. Turner Designs participated in the event by demonstrating and explaining how fluorescence works in an effort to help people understand the basic principles behind our new C6P Submersible Fluorometers, which will be deployed off an Explorato ...
Turner Designs' new C6P Submersible Sensor package enables up to six sensors in a corrosion resistant, highly durable, Delrin plastic housing able to withstand the harshest of environments and rated to a depth of 600 meters. Modeled after the popular C3, the C6P can be configured with up to 6 optical sensors ranging from deep UV to IR. An anti-fouling copper plate and mechanical wiper are ...
Biofouling is one of the greatest challenges for long term deployments. There are many different preventative measures to help control biofouling but none are a complete solution to the problem. Turner Designs initially offered wipers when we introduced the C3 and added replaceable copper tape a few years later. Through experience, we learned the concentration of copper in the tape sim ...
Introducing several new products last year is making this year particularly busy for everyone at Turner Designs. Our C-sense pCO2 sensor is getting a great reception from customers while our partners expand options for integration. Our red chlorophyll sensor is deployed at several sites and we should have good data sets to share soon. Ballast-Check 2, our Handheld PAM Fluorometer, will soon be w ...
Turner Designs is excited to announce our new distributor in Germany, terra4. Representing complementary products for over 8 years, terra4 is a valuable addition to our group of international distributors. Welcome aboard!
Here's a fun story about Turner Designs founder, George Turner:
George went to Charleston High School. After school he would search the alleys for “things of interest” that businesses had tossed in the trash. He would glean mechanical and electrical items and take them home to his workshop in his Dad’s garage. He put on his roller skates and tucked the items under one arm and with the ...
The ALS Ice Bucket challenge is nothing new but our president, Jim Crawford, added a nice touch when his name was called. Jim offered to donate an additional $10 per employee who chose to implement his torture. Needless to say, quite a few employees joined the fun and Jim ended up donating $200. Even though it was a beautiful California afternoon, Jim found the experience to be uncomfo ...
